Convert .cdr files to .eps
August 16th, 2007
Lot of our visitors send us an e-mail asking how to convert Corel Draw files to .eps and can we do it for them.
We are not converting files, but here is short tutorial how to do it. It is very easy process.
First step is to download free trial version of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 (trial version is fully functional for 15 days). You can download it here: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1150981051301 (find link Try, file is around 246MB).
After downloading and installing CorelDRAW X3, you can open any .cdr file downloaded from our website.

After opening file in CorelDRAW go to File menu and click on Export (or hit keyboard shortcut Ctrl+E)

Select Save as type EPS

And in final step set EPS file preferences

Why are you using CDR format and not eps? I dont see the logic in using a format that wont open in any other program besides Corel Draw. Am i missing something here?
Thanks! I’ve used your site for years. It is a super resource for designers…. that have Corel Draw lol

Some visitors upload logos in .cdr format. Obviously it is easier for them to make logo in Corel then in Adobe Illustrator, and we approve that logotypes because they help others in finding logotypes

however,
it would make more sense to restrict uploads to eps and/or ai formats, as eps can be exported by both applications — conversions and additional installations would then be unnecessary, for if it is that easy to convert, then it is even easier to export to eps format in the first place.
