Brief from client
Concept logo for personal freelance company (illustration, graphics design, web design and development).
Inspired by the Japanese proverb, "nana korobi ya oki" which translates to "fall seven times, rise eight times." Commonly associated with Japan's Daruma doll reminds us to never give up on our dreams.
Still debating whether to call it "Yaoki Studio", "Yaoki Studios" or just "Yaoki."

I'm not really a fan, sorry. I like the inspiration behing it but when I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a logo for a Japanese restaurant.
The symbol, this kinda teddy bear thingy, doesn't bring anything really, beside maybe saying that you're a big fan of mangas and animés, which is not really relevant here. Unless you specialize in manga-like illustrations, but it would be a pretty restrictive spectrum of expertise.

Thank you Shawali for your insight. I was concerned that the design would be misleading as I wanted to base it around the philosophy of the company rather than the product.
Is it the typeface and colour that reminds you of a Japanese restaurant? Also, would it help if the Daruma doll was done in a different style, or simply removed altogether?
I would remove it altogether.
I think the the combination of the red and the typeface that makes it look like a restaurant. But by removing the Daruma thingy, it'll be less so already.
