Founded by Ivo Watts-Russell in 1980, 4AD quickly established itself as one of the worlds most distinctive and influential independent record labels. Releasing records over the past 18 years by such seminal bands as the Pixies, Dead Can Dance, Throwing Muses & Kristin Hersh, Belly, Colourbox,Cocteau Twins,This Mortal Coil,The Breeders, GusGus, His Name Is Alive & Bauhaus. 4AD is also notable for the quality of it's design and packaging, mainly due to the work of design company v23.
