BURLE Industries
BURLE Industries, Inc., was a manufacturer of vacuum electron devices and associated RF circuits for communications, science, radar, industry & directed energy applications.
The facility was opened in 1942 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania as a US Navy plant operated by RCA for the manufacture of radio and microwave tubes. Acquired by RCA in 1946, it became the base for development and production of commercial television products and vacuum devices, including power tubes. The 1986 acquisition of RCA by General Electric Company resulted in the divestiture of this facility. In July 1987, via a management buyout, BURLE Industries, Inc. was founded. Subsequently, in 1998, BURLE opened a facility in Matamoros Mexico, for the manufacture of vacuum tube assemblies. In July 1999 BURLE purchased from the Galileo Corporation the Scientific Detector Products Group, located in Sturbridge, Massachusetts - now PHOTONIS USA.
BURLE joined the PHOTONIS Organization in July 2005.
