Gifu Sister City Committee
The elements that make up the # symbol (Gifu’s city symbol) are transformed into 2 flowing rivers (The Nagara River that flows through Gifu City in Japan and the Ohio river that flows adjacent to downtown Cincinnati) and meet in the middle and are symmetric and symbolic of a mutually beneficial relationship. Design concept is a blend of the Cincinnati flag and the Gifu City symbol. Note the overall "balance" of the shapes with the 4 letters surrounding the # symbol - a strong cultural believe in eastern culture.
The font used is Futura which utilizes round symmetric counters and leads to high legibility; this font reads well with the shapes used in the visual logo and has similar curves further blending the two together.
