Hainan Airlines – an overview
Since its beginning, Hainan Airlines has seen 23 years of safe operations and has accumulated over 5 million hours of safe flights maintaining an outstanding safety record and has been listed as one of JACDEC (Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre) the World’s top 10 safest airlines for the third time. Hainan Airlines’ fleet is mainly comprised of Boeing 737s and 787s, and Airbus 330s. As of December 2015, Hainan Airlines has 162 aircrafts in operation, which are used for both passenger and cargo transportation, and provide passengers with individual space in first class, and a spacious new business class. Since 2011, Hainan Airlines, with its high quality service standards and continuous years of service innovation, has won five consecutive global SKYTRAX five-star airline ratings.
Hainan Airlines inherits“Oriental hospitality”, advocates a “respect for the customer” service spirit, follows the “SMILE” service standard, passes on the “cherished experience” brand philosophy, highlights the “Oriental Beauty” new international brand image, becoming a world-class aviation enterprise and brand for the Chinese nation.
Development History
1993 -- Hainan Airlines formally begins its operations with its first flight from Haikou to Beijing.
1994 -- Trains its first pilot in command – Su Jilong.
1997 -- Name of the company is changed from Hainan Province Airlines to Hainan Airlines Co Ltd.
1998 -- Introduces the first Boeing 737-800 aircraft in China and the Asian-Pacific Region.
1999 -- Hainan Airlines shares (A-shares) are listed and traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
2002 -- Introduces its first dual aisle, widebody passenger aircraft, the Boeing 767 luxury airliner.
2004 -- Opens up its first intercontinental flight route from Beijing to Budapest.
2007 -- Introduces its first Airbus, the widebody A330-200 aircraft.
2009 -- First airline in mainland China to be awarded a SKYTRAX 4-star rating.
2011 -- Awarded the title of “SKYTRAX 5-star Airline Company”.
2012 -- Retains the “SKYTRAX 5-star Airline Company” certification for a second year in a row.
2013 -- Retains the “SKYTRAX 5-star Airline Company” title for a third year in a row.
