The iBox
The iBox first started children's parties in 2011. It was the first business in Europe to offer multiplayer video games in a self contained vehicle.
Video game parties had originated in the U.S. a couple of years before but adopted a game lounge approach (common place design) consisting of 4 to 5 large displays and a selection of different games consoles, where players could link up only via split screen gaming, the lounge description refers to the relaxed choice of playing different games.
The iBox's unique design specialised in linked consoles offering a smaller HD screen per player and focused on Xbox 360 consoles which allows link up play when offline. The iBox's design concentrated on interactive group play, where everybody played against each other at the same time. Each vehicle allows 9 players to compete against each other, and subsequent vehicles can be linked together which allow 18 players to race and battle against each other. Making this entertainment perfect for birthday parties, wedding entertainment, corporate team building and other social entertainment.
The iBox is located in the North West of England, U.K. near Manchester and Liverpool. In 2015 two local businesses copied the iBox's intellectual property. One business settled out of court and changed the infringed design. The other business which which was known as Xbox Party continued to infringe the design rights and copyrights all the way to a county court hearing at the Intellectual Property Enterprise Courts in late 2016. The Judge found that this business had flagrantly copied the iBox's intellectal property and an injunction was served to destroy/dismantle the infringed designs and vehicle immediately and costs/damages were also awarded to the iBox. Xbox Party closed its operation and left a lot of parents unaware that they were not able to honour their party obligations. This company should not be confused with Xbox Parties which is a domain owned and operated by the iBox which was set up years before to appeal to those located in Manchester.
