Trip or Freak
- Winterland 1967 Oct 31
Known as “Trip or Freak”, this psychedelic hand-lettering topped the bill of a famous Grateful Dead concert poster in 1967. Drafted by Stanley Mouse for a collaboration with two more of the most talented poster artists of the day - Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley - this is one of the most enduring images of the psychedelic poster era.
The “Trip or Freak Fantasmagoraball” was held on Halloween in 1967 at Winterland, an old ice skating rink, and featured The Grateful Dead, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and Quicksilver Messenger Service.
