Western Wireless®
Founded in 1988 as Stanton Communications, Western Wireless Corporation was formed in 1994 by the merger of Pacific Northwest Cellular and General Cellular Corporation. The company was a cellular network operator that provided mobile telecommunications service to subscribers in 19 western states in the USA, and seven other countries. Western Wireless spun off its VoiceStream Wireless subsidiary in 1999, which was later purchased by Deutsche Telekom AG in 2001 and renamed to T-Mobile USA in 2002.
