we want clean fresh looking logo yet simple. We are a small consultant company with 3 main employees (hence the cubed)

Still looks like game cube
Why not incorporate a cube in the verbiage?
where was you thinking that i add the cube because i don't see any way i can create it without it looking like the gamecube logo in the slightest.
Cut the top of the cube existing into a "C" and make a cube with the angled "c" so that it doesnt look enclosed. You can make it where it doesnt look like the game cube logo
No, it doesn't look like the nintendo gamecube. I like this cube, it's very original.
The typeface is very dull. I prefer the bold one you used in your first version.
The execution of the cube needs more attention. Make all the lines the same width.

good job....one thing use font like cube so its look very appropriate,like square type font maybe bold.
AS I said before, this cube is original and I haven't seen any like this one. Forget about cube for now, you have another problem which you neglected to rectify and that is the whole composition.
I told you before to apply golden rule and take care of your composition/sizing of all interacting elements.
In simple words... YOUR CUBE IS TOO SMALL AND YOUR TEXT IS TOO BIG.
That's a good logo. However, I would change the box somehow. This is just my imagination. It can be anything else. This is like orange 'creative' in the box.
