I like the colors, but maybe look for a more vibrant versions of Blue & Purple to make it really pop. Very close though...These colors are okay, but maybe there is are a couple better ones out there...

I like this but there are a few things to have a look at. Fix the drop shadow so that you can't see the base colour between the shadow and the "A" its only happened in one or two spots near the top and the tail. Also with the dropshadow trying using black with a low opacity rather than just the purple, that way you'll get darker blue on the blue and dark purple on the purple. Also increase the tracking on the "ARTWORK" text and let it breath a bit.

The idea of the two colors separated by the A is not a bad one...its ok. BUT the way you have it looks like a dull, flat, flipped version of the NBA logo. The company is design related so you need to step up the shape a lot! Anybody can make a rounded rectangle- take the same idea and change the shape... maybe something more organic. And I agree that the colors could be a little lighter & more saturated to make them really stand out.
