No, it doesn't work. As Geidson said, all these lines bring is confusion. They do get in the way of clear comprehension.
Now, the tree is way too detailed, like if it's a traced picture. It has to be simplified quiet a bit.
The lines are very distracting and don't add anything positive to the design.
I also don't like how the subtext is placed. It could be slightly bigger, spread out across the bottom or at least better centered.
The tree is too detailed and the colors don't match the green of the main text.
I'd pick a different font, simplify the tree, make the green colors match better (or pick a different color all together that better suits the tree colors) and fix the subtext.
