Does this version look like its working with the idea of "legacy"? Does it make the connection better than just the flame?

I definitely think it does. Since I see the flame and think of the Olympics, and carrying on that legacy (with the torch). The ellipse on the inside bugs me slightly though, I think it's a little bit wide.
Yes, it's much better. I feel there's still some room for improvement. I find it not classy enough. But you're definitely heading in the right direction.
