Veiligheidscentrum Limburg
Brief from client
This logo is not designed by me, it is the current logo of the company Veiligheidscentrum Limburg (VCL).
It is a Dutch company which gives training in security, first aid and other subjects related to safety, health and environment.
I am a student Communication & Multimedia Design and am working as an intern for VCL.
I could use some professional help on analysing the logo.
The logo consist of the shape that looks like the letter 'V'.
Inside the logo you can read the name of the company 'Veiligheidscentrum Limburg', it translate to "Securitycentre Limburg"
Under the logo is a sort of payoff saying 'Ervaring leert',
which translates to "Experience shows" or "Experience teaches".
What is the general thought on this logo design?
And why do you think so?
What could be improved?
And why would that be?

I think the idea is good and the colors are nice and unusual. But somehow the overall result is heavy and sharp. Not pleasant to look at. Try different things and see if you can fix this issue if you agree.
The idea is nice and simple, people seem to care less about deep philosophical meaning behind a logo, as long as it fits with the company and represents them well visually, its fine. botw is right about the harshness of the overall form, maybe incase it within something to tone done that harsh look to it, or even round the edges dramatically, for example look at the edges of the text of the 'sky' logo, some are rounded, some arent. The colours are nice separately, but this gradient you've introduced has created this nasty greeny greyish tone in the middle, look the colour separation of the text below the symbol, keep this consistent. Overall its a good start, just keep refining. Good Luck!

I too thought the gradient looks bad.
Next to that, the shape should be refined yet keep it's simplicity, right?

i like it very much.. maybe you need to scale down the symbol and find an other spot for "ervaring leert" but its pretty cool. Oh and maybe change the black color to something else. I love the gradient!
