I'm not 100% on the type, the J looks thicker than all the other characters to me, i'm also not a fan of the symbol, i think the idea is good but the shape of the mug looks a bit rushed, maybe wok on that a little. Other than that i don't really know what else to say.....
Agree with comments above mine.
It's just super generic. Don't get simplicity and easily understandable confused with a lack of thoughtfulness and creativity. Some of the best logos are really simple in design, but still send out a powerful message. Unfortunately, the only message this sends out is "meh."
I would start over with some sketching to develop the idea further. Keep posting and you will get there.
I think you don't have to change the existing Java cup to different version than the existing Java logo, why should be your version deserve more to be in this competition than the existing one? I feel you are like designing a new logo for Java. Also, the two branding colors of blue & red should be maintained.
I'm just throwing ideas, would you consider to have some stars or ribbons popping out from the cup to create the festival feeling? Or, would you consider to create variant from the existing Java mascot, like having the mascot running through the finishing line, as this is a competition. Hope this helps.

I agree with Zander.
I also hate the strokes on the teacup. They look very clip art in my opinion.
I'd personally choose a stronger / more distinctive typeface and reflect it in the way that you draw the teacup...
