Vambrace
Brief from client
This is the logo for Vambrace, which is a short story I recently finished writing. The story is about an 80s video game that has been remade, so I wanted it to invoke the feel of that era.
The game specifically is a parody of Gauntlet style games, so yes, the logo really really looks like the Gauntlet logo.
I am positively giddy with excitement.
At work I get forced to quickly ham-hand quick logos, that are always super client driven, and my much better ideas tend that I pretty much donate to them always get squished under a bevy of light-bulbs, apples, and Papyrus font. I hardly ever post logos on here, because I am never proud of the end results of my work, and the designs just make me cry into my chicken noodle soup at the end of the day (which honestly cools it down and adds a hint of needed salt to the low sodium version).
Seriously, you take my wicked flaming stylized boar and turn it into a cartoon mash off of stock balloons, drop shadows, curved text, cartoon suicide food pigs, and gradient flames? It hurts my soul.
However, sometimes I get to make a logo for myself! Which is what I got to do with this! I am proud of it, and am uploading it here.

Full Disclosure.* Yes, this looks a lot like the Gauntlet Logo. It was intentional. The cover is also a parody of the classic Gauntlet Cover.
Here is the full cover for fun. It was designed to parody Atari box art, as all books i this short story series will.
Here is the Gauntlet Cover, to save you from looking for it.
Your description above is cracking me up! I too work for a sign company and I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!!!
I wholeheartedly agree with my mate Shaun.
What bugs me the most though is that the characters aren't really consistent. It looks like none of their stems have the same width. You need to harmonize that shit =)
Keep it up with your weird sex fantasy thing ;)
Yeah, the base font I picked was a little wonky with all sorts of haphazard serifs in it.
I thought they had been tamed, but looking at it now, it did look a lot more harmonized before I added that outline to make it stand out from the orange.
No matter, that can be fixed!
Thanks everyone!
(And I will so keep that up Shawali!)
