Logo for FVD

Brief from client
FVD is a graphic design agency that focuses on designing corporate marketing collateral.
I don't think the circle adds anything to the design. I am not a fan of the font either. On a positive note, I am liking this version of the toucan...but I con't understand the split in the middle or the tail in the bottom right.
The best thing you can do for a logo is to make sure it works in black and white before using color, especially one where you are utilizing negative space. That way your logo can work on any background with ease.
I know that rule has been broken before several times, I've even broken it with some of my recent work. However for your type of business, I think it could really help you.
The symbol doesn't work for me- the break line and the bottom of the bird are odd to me. The negative space isn't creating anything (or at least anything I can see) so why have it? It makes the bird look forced into the circle shape- and yet it doesn't exactly follow the curve of the circle either.
The font isn't my fave- but it's not great either. I think it might work better if only Forbes was in that font and tagline was a complimenting font??? Otherwise, it's a bit too something- maybe futuristic- for me.
Joy pretty much said what I was going to say. But to be sure, this is a huge improvement. I think you have the hard work taken care of. Just make some adjustments to the lower part of the toucan and try to tone down the futuristic look a few notches. Font selection is just as hard as logo design for me sometimes, so don't be discouraged.
Also, I'll echo the comments about the symbol not fitting the circle. I would enlarge the circle so it doesn't look like it's supposed to be a deliberate fit.

I was looking at toucan logos and I noticed that the use of negative space was a trend in most of them so I included it in this version.
The circle has a white fill to contrast the logo against any background. Maybe I could use a thick stroke around the toucan instead.

Thanks. Much appreciated.

Noted.
