The Spice of Life

Brief from client

Logo for a new Thai Restaurant. They like the idea of using an elephant with a head dress. They want to use mainly lime green and beetroot as a secondary colour. They want the font to represent Thai style writing. So yea i had a pretty precise brief for a change which was nice.

So here's my effort, i have done tons of slightly different variations all based around this symbol and the fonts, but i think this is the one i'm most pleased with / fits the brief best.

the symbol is completely drawn by myself and other than the tassels on the headdress is made entirely from using circles.

Please let me know what you think. Cheers

It's good, but I just don't think the use of two different fonts is needed.. I would stick to just one font

I agree with Doylee about the use of the 2 fonts.

I basically like the spice/life fonts and the green rounded box, but think you should make a different choice for the other fonts and i'd start again with a much simpler symbol. I'm far from sold on the elephant idea in terms of colour, style and execution.

I also don't find elephants synonymous with Thailand at all, but if they want it then what can you do...

Thnigs I like : the fonts and the general composition.

Things I don't really like: the elephant symbol has kind of a childish side to it, something you would see in a children book, but not necessarily on Thai restaurant logo. Also be careful: what you've drawn here is an African elephant. Asian elephants have smaller ears!

I'm also not a fan of the green rounded box. I think it'll end up limiting in the way you can play around with the font, be it composition or colors on different background.

Keep it up mate!

Ah really good point you made there on the african elephant thing. I also agree with you about it looking a little childish. after i drew it i thought to myself that it didnt look serious or realistic enough for a restaurant but thought i would see if any of you lot had the same feeling.. and you did! haha. Ill see what i can do.. Cheers :)

I like everything but the elephant. But you're on a good track. Could you modify the green box to be the profile of a more simple elephant? Look at the Evernote logo for example. Just an idea. :)
