Brief from client
concept for record label
Concept for start up record label. Client didn't provide much creative direction or a brief. My initial thought lead me to this.
First of all the creative direction is your responsibility. What you need to get from your client is the image he wants to communicate through the logo you create. (Basically that should be the same image his business communicates).
Anyway, that Florence flask looks very cheesy. You are mixing oil and water when none of them are toxic in nature.
I would use... something like the head of a nasty roach wearing a gas mask of the WWI. Something like that. But I would ask my client first, perhaps is too much.
Client update: Client wants to keep current color scheme, and wants to be far away from the standard Toxic Symbols... What a challenge this is....lol, but not really lol
1. Select a font and ask him his opinion
2. Select a color for the font and and ask him his opinion.
3. Select a graphic element and ask him his opinion.
4. Select an arrangement for all the elements and ask him his opinion.
5. OK. Forget all the above and just ask him his opinion on each and every single change you make to the logo.
The idea is fresh and i think it works for a new disc label, i understand your idea of the disc and the flask, i just think you can make better the typography.

Sorry, era on my fingers for typing "client offered no creative direction"
would you suggest making it look more like an actual LP Album?
No, I have seen that a lot.

This is a horrible mock up.. but it seems there would be an idea in making a Toxic symbol mixed with a record.
Maybe too obvious....
Its good, but i think is too common the symbol inside the CD

Give him what he wants. The sooner the better.
Nice tip:
