Brief from client
This is a logo for a startup Graphic Design Studio that i am venturing into.
The word Zia means 'light'.
The Identity is intended to be kept simple using a monotone palette. The work displayed on the website or marketing collateral's would be in colour, hence the distinction.

Sorry, this is not working at all.
First off, it reads ZA design. The i gets lost because of the lighter opacity, especially in the thumbnail version.
What you did with "design" just complicates things, brings nothing good to the plate and doesn't look aesthetically good. Plus, it's on a totally different scale than the ZIA. It will more than likely get lost when you reduce your logo in size.
Finally, black and white can be very classy and neat, but this is not the case here. Globally it feels like you didn't spend much time working on this and skipped quite a few steps in your creative process, chiefly inspiration and more importantly sketching.
Regarding this logo, I'm not sure you're quite ready yet to have your own freelancing venture. You need to work a lot more and follow a well-defined process every time you start designing something. To make it short: inspiration, research, sketching and execution.
Good luck!
