Brief from client
Sorry, I just saw the version button :o(
I work on that version to let the letters be more visible.
the idea is that you may not see the letters at first, but
when you know it you always see it.
Sorry this if really not working for me. Mainly because of the vertical text, which you should avoid in any logo, as it is not easy to read. Not really a good idea for a logo.
Also, being slightly coulrophobic, your logo makes me feel a bit uneasy =)
Thanks, exactly what I wanted. Not easy to read was my aim.
As the color, it goes with the age... Bozo, Bazooka, Pogo and many others.
Also, cheap to print in two colours =O)
As far as printing is concerned, there are 5 colors in this logo =) What you see as just a transparent red is only a bright pinkish shade. Same goes with the blue and what appear on my screen as a blueish grey on each side and brighter one for ".ca"
Alright, so I've been giving this logo time to settle in my mind, and try to get used to it.
Ultimately, the case needs to be made whether or not vertical type can work. And if it doesn't, then your whole design falls apart like Jenga. I can get past the silly clown gimmick you've gone with, but I think I'd prefer the more abstract version you've got in your avatar, if I were to choose (with actual letters representing facial features). The reason being, it can speak to emoticon lovers, and connecting numbers/symbols/letters together into a logo is clever.
But does the vertical type work? I honestly don't think it does. The first time I saw this, I didn't even notice the "80P." I thought it was simply a poorly rendered face, but then I realize the reason behind it, and attempted to get behind the idea that you have to recognize the words on their side. And that will turn away a lot of people off from the logo, in my opinion.
I appreciate the idea, but the execution just doensn't hold. And for that I have to thumbs down this version. But keep trying! I'm sure you've got more ideas in your head. You've not afraid to try the weird ones, let's see what else you have! :)

The 80p certainly stands out better in this version. I can actually tell that it is something I could enter as a website.
Also, +1 awesome point for it being .ca!
To me the 0 could be mistaken with an O quite easily. I'm not quite sure how to fix it, but it confused me for a bit.
80p.ca or 8op.ca same site.
You are allowed to be confused.
=o)
P.S. And if you forgot that was a "p" and put a "b". ;0)

Nope, 2 Pantone only / shade @ 50% and 10% for .ca
My bad =) Print processes aren't my forte.
Cool logo tho I prefer horizontal. Why is it the French colors if it's from Canada?
I know they speak French in places such as Quebec but French flag colors?
The French flag hasn't a monopoly on blue, white and red =)
Shawali you're right but when you link those colors with a French speaking region, one can't help but think of the French connection.
And what about the American flag ?
;0)

This reminds me of a character in the animated series The Simpsons. =)
