Brief from client
A Renewed Creation is a startup writing blog. The client seeks to use this identity for blogs about women, teens, frugal living, people with special needs and more. Eventually they want to get speaking engagements and use the logo on photos and quotes as well.

I would call this more of a word mark than a logo. Only because it's lacking a graphic element. The butterfly had to be from clip art, which is fine, except that the detail of the circles within the wing are lost and will be difficult to print properly. You may want to simply the butterfly to better represent the fonts. If I'm to critique on the lettering your chose... yep, that's positive, the colour combination is ok.... but not much else that would be deemed.... original. You used fonts created by someone and a butterfly created by someone else. The only thing you did was to put them together in a pleasing manner... which you've done :)
The idea is there, the logo itself as a whole is not. As Taz said, your butterfly would not work as a logo when used as a business system, where logos could be made very small, thus losing fine detail. Save your illustration (for the sake of argument, I'll call it your illustration. If it was a clip art, whatever...that's another discussion) for large scale projects such as packaging and other decoration.
Moving past the butterfly, I'm presented with another issue: unity. There seems to be conflicting font styles. A light script and a heavy serif doesn't work well here.
Colors seem to be all over the place; black, aqua and dark orange. Choose a less abrasive color scheme to represent this company better.
Close, but I think we can be closer.
It sure looks good, but it is a miss to be called as a logo. Logo should be an emblem or pictorial representation, in this case there is too much happening to be considered as a logo.
The butterfly is a nice touch, but it will be even better if it is used as the logo. I understand the reason you choose butterfly, it is a good idea, but try simplified the butterfly even more, make it unique, one of a kind, a kind that you created yourself and not from a clipart.
There's a good reason to simplified a logo, so it is easier to reproduce into another media, such as TShirt, Banner, Coffee Mug, or stationary like Pen. If you you have too many things happening in your logo, imagine you have to put it on a pen with such a narrow space, it won't fit.
It is recommended, to limit the usage of your typeface (fonts) to just one. Also avoid the Press Print effect, always put in mind the reproduction process on other media, sometimes it can't be made. You want a visual consistency in your logo.
You also want to choose one color to represent your logo. Choose one that really means or represent some value. It is recommended, but not a must. So it is up to you.
Have fun!
I'm not so sure it's a logo given the lack of a graphic element other than the butterfly. I really like the idea, though. It definitely makes me want to read the blog.
try to use same font for all words plus enlarging the butterfly
so...so!
