Brief from client
Company is looking for new logo. No real prompts, was previously Big Country Powersports.
Client wants to add trees... any suggestions that will not crowd the symbol?
I may need some clarity. Isn't X-Height the measurement from the baseline to the median in regards to lowercase letters? This particular word mark only consists of capital lettering. Did you mean Cap Height?
Decidedly better without the background! I don't know if it would work, like Shawali said simplicity, but you could try negative image to the right above the river but below the peak. If I were you, decide if you like it before you show it to the client. Inevitably, the client will pick the design you like the least. It is your job to convince him/her that adding more elements doesn't enhance the logo, it muddies it. Nice improvement!

Much better! Very nice simplification effort.
Now, I think the symbol still weighs too heavily vis à vis the word mark, which doesn't have much room too breath.
I'll try more a similar font but with much higher x-height. See if you can elongate it without disfiguring it.
I'm not sure you need thess two circles on each side of the subtext. Again, simplicity!
But this is really taking shape now, good job!

My bad, I meant cap-height.
