Brief from client 

This was a logo I made in a college course. It is for a conceptual lighting company named Beacon.

There is a lot going on here. I think it begs for simplification. The star, for example, doesn't ad anything. When I looked at this in thumbnail form, I saw the light bulb, but I couldn't figure out why it was on a pedestal. I realize from the description, that this is trying to be a lighthouse. I think if you move it a bit more toward that idea, you might have something. Not certain about the bounding shape and why the inline isn't all the way around. Again, this could be eliminated and you wouldn't lose a thing.
