I like your proposal WAY better than any of the others. It's clean, readable and even gets coffee in there. Very nice.
Over the 2 decades I've been doing this I've found that bad designs are mostly due to the limitations put on you by the client. As a designer one has to be careful not to "push" the client towards a particular design. A gentle "nudge" with a detailed explanation as to why you think they should change directions is the best way to keep your client happy. I've always wondered why a client would even bother to hire an expert designer only to handcuff them by not allowing their creativity and expertise guide the design. Isn't that the purpose of hiring one of us in the first place? Anyone can copy a drawing, but how many can actually DESIGN?
