I like it but I don't think it's worth $226,000. Did you create this or are you just posting it to see what the community thinks?

maybe his just a dude based at NC and posted this logo just to see some reactions.

I agree that it's not worth $226,000. It's not clever enough to me and I don't get what it supposed to say when I look at it.

But I'm sure it went through all various designers and government officials so we don't know the whole story to it.

Here's my thing- no one ever thinks it's "worth" what was paid. When Tennessee re-did the logo everyone said the same thing- with the added annoying comments like "my 3rd grade daughter coulda done that on her ipad" ughhh smh
I'm sure a lot of time, effort, consulting, and countless revisions went into this- as well as laying out all the guideline for multiple divisions and how they can and can't use it. And I'm sure part of it went to research or professional consulting.
Now to me- $226,000 seems pretty damn high- but I won't speak for the logos worth in dollar amounts. I personally think it's a pretty well done logo.

Sorry guys, but where do you guys get that $226,000 figure from?

As for this logo, while it's off to a good start, it doesn't look 100% finished to me. It feels very right heavy. There's some kind of slight visual clash in the interaction between the round leaves and the square ones, especially along the central line of the tree. The white spaces between the leaves along that central line are uneven.

Also, the set of square leaves are offset vis à vis the round ones, which underlines that right heavy feeling.

That being said, the JPEG being in super low rez doesn't really help.

This logo was recently adopted by the city of Raleigh. An article online said the city paid $226,000 for it. My point was that if this is a site to help people refine their designs, then why put one up that was recently released and has no hope of being improved.

.....did anyone actually read the article.

They didn't pay that much for just the logo.

They paid two firms for their research time, a video, font licensing, slogan research, AND the logo.

That much over time adds up.
