Im 19 with no design experience but played around with gimp and came up with this

I think it could work.. but needs some cleaning up.

The font is comic based, so I think it works.

I would like the star symbol to be simplified.. like the classic "POW!" "ZAP!" etc. from the old BatMan show/comics.

I don't think you need the shadow. 2 bold colors should be fine.

It feels like a comic, simplify it and you should be done:.

Yea like G13 said simplify the splat. It's points are to long and there are to many.

It's a good first try for a beginner.
But... why did you choose such a boring name for a comic shop?
Why not name it SPLAT! or ZAP! or BANG! or KAPOW! so you have a reason to put text on a splat?
