Brief from client 

The wanted a refreshed / simplified version of the old logo. Something less serious and more playful.

More spacing between connecting points on the top of the letter T.
Gray shaddow added. Inspired by the Le Monde masthead.

I agree, this isn't looking right. You want to make a connection between the C and the M but at the expense of the T looking right.

As said, keep sketching ideas on paper.
