Brief from client
Clean, approachable typography that balances name with a clearly defined mascot image.
Artisanal, small-batch pie bakery based in Brooklyn, NY puts a face to its name (literally) with a cute mascot face interposed between the main titles of its company name.

Hmm..... I guess I'm not feeling this. It has a lot to do with that symbol- it looks like a rough draft that was tossed in with the font. (And the word "cute" isn't coming to mind looking at the graphic either.)
I don't really like the font you're using here either. If it's an artisanal bakery, shouldn't the font and symbol both look more..... artisanal? A little more handmade than Times? Or at least cute? I don't mean to crap all over what you've got going here- but it sounds like a designer's dream to make a logo for a bakery called "cutie pies" and this just feels.... not thought out.
I'm hoping this is a rough draft though- I think a LOT more could be done with such a great name!!
It took me 15 seconds to figure out what the heck the graphic was. The type is kind of dull for what should be a fun business.
It took me a while to figure out what that graphic was too. I saw some terrifying creature before it turned into a woman. I'd say that's a big rethink on the graphic.
Guess I don't mind the idea of running an image in line with the type, and the lower case font is a little on the cute side, but the fine line detailed cartoon is waaay too fussy to be read with the type. Try reducing it any more and the artwork will be impossible to decipher. The whole thing needs some strength, some weight – and like 2423 says – some "fun." At this point it's real thin and not very exciting or inviting, to say nothing of appetizing..
