Dirt & Stones

Brief from client

I just started a band named Dirt & Stones, and of course a band needs a logo. I tried to go for a handwritten of brushed font, tried to keep it simple and a little bit stylish.

I would like some feedback maybe on the font, colour(s) and the positioning. Thanks!

Dude, that is pretty cool.

A few details could need some fine tuning: I don't really like how the bar of T crosses the ampersand. It doesn't feel natural and kinda goes against the general flow of the word mark, which is pretty good.

Also not a fan of the gradients, though it's a totally personal thing. With a name like "Dirt & Stones", I would expect something more distressed, with some textures and stuff.

But overall, this is a mighty fine job. Maybe you could do something like this for your personal logo =)

You're totally right about the gradient thing, and the texture is a nice idea!
Thanks!

There are some alternate ampersands that could allow for the t bar to cross it, or just shorten it up. I agree that it is distracting and forces your eye there first. All and all, an awesome job. Also agree you should mess it up a bit.

I' m not an expert on a free hand writing... I like three letters the way they 're done : D, i ,o. Don't understand a purpose of an underlined attempt below " tones "? It feels to me that you're not working in this style on a regular basis and you must polish your skill level to make letters sing a song. I would look at some Japanese/Chinese brush calligraphy and study. Good luck to you!
