the symbol kind of looks like a snake from far away, with the leaf stem being a tongue. i like the concept, just make it look a little less imposing. also, i'd make eco green a solid color

I see where you are going with this. Although leaves are a quite generic object to use when it comes to eco style logos but what you are attempting could actually come of quite neat. Loose the gradients for definite, they are not doing anything to your design and then when it comes to printing in black and white you are going to have problems. Find a better sans serif style font to go with and revise your actual graphic mark.
