Elite Marble and Granite

Brief from client

Client needs a logo for their newly opened venture in Marble and Granite business.

Granite and Marble are not cheap commodity. Client wants a brand that will create exclusivity for their product. They want to differentiate their product from the rest of the already existing competitors, they want to be the leader in this particular market.

Love that frog foot on top of a lion's head - that is some awesome idea for making a logo for endangered species campaign. Okay, now let's get serious: 1. a blue lion for a symbol that suppose to resemble a company that deals with marble and granite the way it is executed - no go, sorry., 2.keep one color., 3. I would like to see something that makes me feel marble or granite, or at least feel stone. Perhaps, making some drop shadows inside " elite " would start drifting to that direction. I think if you could shape up/fine tune a lion and make a drop shadows within - that is your winning lottery ticket for this concept. Now, on a funny side - that blue lion would be some logo consideration for NFL's Detroit Lions, ha ha ha.

Good catch with the frog foot top, thanks I am gonna change the frog foot crown with other crown from my crown warehouse, I got tons of those.

1. What do you think the right animal to represent a company that deals with marble or granite? Mole? Worm? Rabbit? Ants? or maybe Mountain Goat?
2. Keep one color? Why? Any particular reason?
3. Drop shadow in the text? Drop Shadow in a logo? Seriously? Maybe not, I think this is a logo, not a comic illustration, don't want to add in too many details.
4. Do you have a contact for the Detroit Lions management who deals with Team Emblem? I might want to submit this graphic to them for consideration. ha ha ha you are very funny

Thanks

This can be a good brand mark for a high value commodity if you work on it further more.

I think you need to refine the lion icon, details like the ear, the eye and the nose needs to look more royal than cartoony.

I also think that you need a better font choice for the name (Elite) maybe more formal serious font, am not sure also about the lowercase use.

Finally, if you want to use different shades of the same colour, try to make them not so close to each other.

Thanks really appreciate your inputs, really appreciate it. This is what I would call a constructive critic, not any joker with a computer and a keyboard, and suddenly an art critic.

I am really interested with your input about "use different shades of the same colour, try to make them not so close to each other." is there any particular reason why? Thanks

Sincerely.

Am glad I was somehow helpful :)

You have used different colours to differentiate between 2 elements, yet you have used very similar shades so now they are very close to each other, this makes it look like a mistake or a colour mismatch.

JoSetio, here is what I have been experimenting with your lower case " t " to show you what can be done - possibilities are endless unless you're lazy. It really doesn't bother me what you think about me personally. Remember this important quote: " when you are trying to judge or judging someone - you are not defying them - you defying yourself ".Tiger would be an excellent choice for an animal sake - tiger can kill a lion. Don't know why lion has been promoted to king level? Even polar bear can kill a lion.By the way, my critique was a constructive one with explanations and suggestions and I'm sorry that you feel that way.You get over it, eventually. I wish you success in your logo quest!

Before I forget - here is another constructive one for you: you font choice is getting very close to a famous brand " evian " that produces a pure drinking water from Alps and yours is done in a lower case, too.

Here is a perfect example about a script on a marble with drop shadow effect. Hope that you will get an inspiration, roll up your sleeves and start working on your logo. You will need to come up with a texture to give us that marble/granite feel, so, we can smell that instantly at a first glance. If you are making a logo for a company that deals with marble/granite - give us that feel, please. At the moment I'm not sold on what I saw in your concept. Sorry for my very constructive critique in advance.

Could a more geometric and structured symbol work to convey some details related to stone?

If you keep the current one, I'd suggest cleaning up the spacing between the shapes the lion is made up of. Like making every separation at least the width of the larger spacing in the mane. For instance, the hairline cuts in the mouth and crown may print oddly at times and they look odd.

I was thinking, about using some geometric shape as another option later.

about the hairline, thank you for reminding me, that one slipped my mind completely, will do as u suggest.

thanks :)

I like your Idea, the lower case letters properly used give a subtle hint of class, I'm on the fence about the font choice though, but just personal preference, not enough to say its a wrong choice. If you tighten up the lion like you said, made it a little less lion king, more strong chiseled shape, think of the Mutual of Omaha indian as an example, you will have a good icon. If you like the blue, maybe try a version with a richer royal blue to reenforce the royal lion or a slate blue to reference the stone. The only other thing I think is missing is some weight to represent the stone/granite, I've attached a visual your current lion icon to show some of these ideas, but I think you have a good start.

I see no need to place effects and textures to a logo. I see your idea is very good should just make some adjustments to the symbol and text look for other options.

Maybe you have re-study the idea because many people are agreed. I have transferred this idea to Marble and Granite Sterling VA Company and Maybe will start this soon.
