Engineering Company

Brief from client
Need an engineering logo that can catch attention.
The objective is about getting attention. Asterisk is used to represent gear which referring to engineering. Asterisk also almost look like Fire in Chinese character, which is part of the company Chinese name. I slightly rotate the first box to make the logo more dynamic. Welcome input. Thanks!
I know you were trying to go for something deep and meaningful behind the fire character, but it just looks like four asterisks to me. If anything this feels like a phone company, and the rotated square doesn't appear to have achieved any purpose.
If you are going to use asterisks to make flaming red gears, then actually do that!
Make them gears, make them interlock, make them cool...er hot. That is an idea to sketch out. If these were gears, they wouldn't even turn because the boxes are part of them (?).
Waffle, you're right about asterisk/gears lacking any turns because of the boxes that they're in. Perhaps, we are looking at opened shipping box from above with asterisks/ gears just arrived at a factory?

As far as getting attention you succeed okay, but everything beyond that is a big no - no.

I would go back to the drawing board here.
go back to the sketching phase. this isn't interesting, just seems like a stab at the obvious. why are there 4 symbols? try to make one suffice.

It isn't a bad idea, but you need to go for it.

Without knowing anything about this logo, I would guess it's for a cheap clothe store, like H&M.
But I don't get any idea of engineering. You want your asterisks to represent gears, but I just see asterisks.
Thanks guys! will try again. :)
