Brief from client
Esquina Versalles is a new residential development in an old part of town but that will offer modern amenities and is aimed at a younger crowd. The logo has to symbolize the esquina "corner" and the V for Versalles the area where the development will be.

Bottom one reads "Lesquia" to me.
Top one is much better for quickly reading what the logo is. I like the font, typography, and the use of space. I wouldn't cap off the tops of the V unless you do that same thing at the bottom of the V. Pick one or the other and stick with it. For that matter, if you are stuck with the V, why not hide a smile in there somewhere. See sample image to show where you could hide a swoop for a smile--not spaced well in the sample image..
I'm not sure what the diamond like shape is at the top of the top image, but the dimensionality of it seems to push in a different direction than the bottom of the logo. Perhaps remove the dark lines below each side of them?
