Georgia Southern Chess Club

Brief from client

A simple logo designed for a chess club. Should be similar to the design style of GSU, and look clean.

This is a logo I designed for the chess club at my university (Georgia Southern University). I tried to keep it relatively simple in comparison to the GSU logo and their design style. All feedback welcome

Here's a black and white vector as well.

There's nothing technically really wrong here (beside the kerning), it's just that it's just too generic and plain.

It lacks some serious umph to be a good logo. Right now it just does the job...

Good luck.

Hi,

Firstly I would tell you that I´m a newby on logo design, but as an not expert I would like to tell you that I´m totally agree with JMG3 about the stroke separating the top from the mid section and with Shawali about that the idea even when technically is good, It´s not original at all.
And just a thought about the originality, why every chess school has to use either the King or the horses? Maybe it will look more original to use the tower, or a pawn or whatever other.

I would say that this logo is ok right now.
It is lacking something to make it stand out, the symbol to me looks a little plain. Overall its an ok logo.
