Brief from client
Preferably something in the logo to represent a castle. Preferable colors are red, black and white. I'm a complete logo novice, and appreciate ANY feedback.
As can be evident from the attached I am an amateur graphic designer specializing in layouts but i have no formal training in logos. So any feedback would be much appreciated.
Should the text be in capitals?

I think you did a good job here, Very Simple yet stands on its own.
i saw a shirt with the sleeves up not a tower. general impression is good but it lacks in personality . I would put a sharper symbol up, the text below and a skinny subtext below the text.
First I will use a capital G for Garrison and second I will make the tower taller, because i thought it was some kind of ugly icon for a T-shirt.
Experiment with diferent typographies and determine wether an specific typo gives balance, legibility and if it adds some personality to the logo. The red doesn´t need to be in capitals I think that part is fine and also preferably use just one font.
Work more on it and don´t forget the details, it has to be a unique image not an image and a bunch of words just put togheter.

Sorry for my ignorance, an you please explain your comment about 'it has to be a unique image not an image and a bunch of words just put together'? This sounds like the theory on logo's, which I am sadly lacking knowledge of.
I really like this logo.
I love the simplicity of the symbol/font combo.
Watch out the kerning though, it's way off.

Thanks everyone - great feedback from all, will work on all your suggestions.
Make the edges of the tower more sharper to match the font. Or you could make a different logo Combine the capital G and the tower together.
