Handy Hoist Hire
Franklin Design | Mon, 08/31/2015 - 19:15
Brief from client
A logo for a hoist hire company. They offer a cherry picker service/hoist hire.
I dig the symbol and the fact that it can be one color, but I think the fonts are to close the the edge of the shapes; even including the HOIST.
I also think you could find a better font.
You have something here just based of how clean it looks, although I have no clue what a Hoist hire company does or even what the symbol is, it looks to be industrial enough to fit the criteria.
Keep it up, and post the next version.
I like it, but like Shawali I was confused as to what exactly the target market is. I would never have gotten cherrypicking services from this logo. It holds together well (save for perhaps some breathing room), but I'm wondering if there's a better way to convey the correct message here.
I'm afraid it's you =) The cherry picking thing is just too specific. And generally, I don't get from this logo the idea of a elevating machine. It looks neat though.
Honestly, I have no idea about such industry, nor have I ever seen the machine you mention, but maybe those that are in such business may very well identify the figure in the design. That's why I didn't down vote the Idea or Symbol.
At first I thought it was a hardware store or a auto parts store.
I think the execution of the logo is great: the font, the balance, how legible it is and the scalability of it since it can be so easily used anywhere.
Maybe consider giving the text a bit more breathing room.
I'm interested to see the color version. Voting on Color N/A at this moment.
As you see in the comments the logo isn't clear. Maybe it's clear enough for your work-sector but if I was you I would use a symbol that is easier to recognize.
Because you are taking a risk now.. There is always an solution!

It might be worth investigating further.
Its the top view of the platform of a cherry picker, I thought that was quite clear >.< but maybe just me..
