Hecho a Mano (Hand Made)

Brief from client

Hand made food, not industrial food, organic food, made with non conservatives ingredients. Food made with the traditional ingredients at classical cooking style.

Logo for a food products brand. The logo describes a tablecloth (classical squared tablecloth) with name on it. Hecho a Mano means Hand made, refers that the food products is hand made. Kind of craft work on food, delicious food made with all the necessary care to the public.

The idea is an interesting one. However there are a few issues that can be addressed here:

Firstly your font is kind of awkward looking, I don't mean this in a mean way of course but the fact that you have upward bending font over a downwards bending rectangle shape breaks up the logo's outer shape and may bring a bit of confusion to some viewers, especially since its on a more 2d "table cloth". You also have drop shadows and gradients that are quite distracting, you can definitely come off with a stronger and less generic piece if it was a simple flat color. It also looks more modern and clean overall.

That font also can be changed because it reminds me of the "typical hispanic font" that I ALWAYS tend to see on more of the hispanic logos. I think it would be nice to see something not so generic every once in a while. Maybe you can check out fontsquirrel.com or losttype.com or just google "Awesome Mexican logo brands" if you would like to appeal to that group of people in a more positive and attractive way.

Nice examples: http://ninjacrunch.com/30-inspiring-restaurant-and-dining-logos/

Remove all shadows and gradients, leave it flat, and I would even do away with the table cloth UNLESS you plan to make those squares 10x bigger in the design. Fewer and larger plaid squares may have a nice little sense of detail but still be simplistic and recognizable. Imagine if this was any smaller, your table cloth would just look like a pink blob with no detail, so be careful with that.

The sub head probably can also use a different serif, but it doesn't really bother me as much as the purple text, which should be equally sized as well mind you!

Overall keep working at it, I think you may come up with something way more creative in the symbol and type :D

I like the idea but get rid of that horrible gradient and drop shadows. It totally kills the "vintage" feeling you're looking for. The background and the subtext are great.
