I'd remove the drip and the text from the circle, place the text either to the right of the symbol or under it and see how that looks. This seems like a good start.

I like the main idea you're working with here, but I think it's a big mistake to have both the drop and the leaf symbol - it's too much, too confusing!

Also, the text around the circle is practically unreadable it's so small.

I think you should see how it looks without the screened drop (and without the drop you have a lovely 1-color logo! Much easier to print!), make the text around the edge bigger (increase the border area if you have to, I don't think that would be problematic) and just go with the leaf symbol in the middle. Sure, it's a common symbol but this is for a botany institute, they don't need to be hip or trendy.

All in all, I'd just increase the thickness of the white border, make the text larger, take out the drop symbol and leave the leaf! I think that would have a good chance at being awesome!

the idea is there but as mentioned in the above comments the text is way to small, on the thumbnail i couldnt even see any text! make the text alot bigger and increase the white border so the text fits inside it. get rid of the drop or another idea if you want to keep the drop is to make it alot smaller put it in white and have it as if its dripping off the tip of the top leaf

The text is a fadeing grey and the drip makes the plant look somewhat brown.
If you fix these few things I think it might look nice.
