Sorry, but this one needs way more than having its edges clean.
Nothing works. The composition is messy, with that weird T shape and equally weird pattern in the background.
The fontwork is also terrible. That free Windows script font is painful too watch, especially with that stroke and drop shadow. The "Wofford" typeface is literally tortured out of shape.
And that over photoshoped background brings nothing good to the plate. Don't underestimate the absolute necessity of a plain white background.

Shawali hit the nail in the coffin with this one. I would like to reiterate that your logo needs to be on a white background. That brushed aluminum is too distracting and takes attention away from the logo. The "Mirrored J" or is it a "T" as sha said doesn't work here. Some good examples of motorsports logos below:

I suggest that you take a look at these and then come up with a creative logo on your own - not saying to copy these logos but use them as inspiration!
I appreciate the critique, but did notice that 75% of the logos i looked at from the link you posted had some type of colored background. That being said when is it ok to not have a white background?
