Brief from client
A logo for a contemporary city church
This is the first edition of the logo. I think the typography now looks very jaded and would like to replace it with a heavy weighted sans serif. Our colour is an attempt to break from the old skool church tradition of using a rainbow of colours or conservative blues or greens. The church is in a factory in an industrial area.

Looks 'industrial' so I think you nailed it good. Not sure if those church types will accept red as a base color (it's the devils color!, apage satanas!).
Just one question.... why is your upper left side of the cross moved off center?
It might look like a nice graphic trick but I don't think church types like their crosses meddled with.
I think it's 2 arrows, showing connection- not a cross. right?
But he has a point- turn it into a cross and you have 2 meanings to the symbol.
Other than that I think it's good.
But from your description- I couldn't tell if this is the original and you want to revise it- or this is your first draft of a revision:.
Shit- sorry Splash- I deleted my comment because it was a copy and it deleted yours with it. But I read it and see what you are saying.
Tis ok, comment was for you and you read it. :)
A re-do. The church will be shifting into new premises so a re-brand is on the cards. I will mess with the symbol but I am not sure of the Lifezone marque. It is old-looking? Should I be replacing with a font like Soho?
I think this typo works for this, Soho is more classic style but at the end your client will have a final say.
Sorry for mistaking Tangerine Tango for red, I blame it on the black background and strong contrast. I still think TT will probably be too close to red for them.
How about playing it safe and going for a nice 'melon orange' and dark brown color scheme instead?
Also, another solution for connecting arrows.... how about giving them some space, that way, if they are not touching, it will be more obvious that they are arrows and final form will still be hinting at the cross.
Like everything but the symbol, I would work on that some
Thanks for your critique. Yeah, the 'is-it-a-cross-or-intersecting-arrows'symbol is a deliberate ambiguous statement. Some don't like the cross symbol (too catholic) yet some do. Essentially it ties together with the tagline 'Reach, connect.grow'. Personally I hate designing for the lowest common denominator - the thick viewer that has to be spoonfed the solution.
I have had a bit of backlash with the Tangerine but it works well with all the greys in the palette (and ironically, Pantone have made it their hot colour of 2012).
