Geometric play is fun and constructive but you shouldnt use it in such a sterile way. Get out of the "square" box and play with the shapes and negative space more, you can make wonders out of this. Give up the contours of the shapes, it doesnt work as logo, it makes it look like a blueprint instead of a logo. Perspective is another playground, balance the technical stuff with artistic stuff in order to achieve your goals. Good luck there and keep up the good work.
There has been a spate of initial type logos lately. They are boring and don't speak at all to the talents of the people they represent. I look at this and it says nothing. There are so many directions you can go with a construction engineer logo. Like heuroth said, think out of the box. Sketch, sketch, sketch. Don't be so rigid. Others have suggested, and I think it's a good idea, to start playing word association. Start with a foundation word, then draw a line and put an associated word to it...or many. Keep doing that until an image comes to mind. Then play with that on paper. Construction might take you to engineer might take you to measure might take you to compass...
Yes, @ cooperads , that hand symbol made by Esteban would be a proper addition to be place right on top of that blue " S " or 5 to promote that thinking out of the " Jack in the Box ". I'm looking at this one and some lines are not done correctly and, so, is perspective... I agree with you that there are so many directions this could be going in.
@esteban, dont take it so personal here, this comunity is made to help each other but we still allow ourselves to make some small jokes around. It's a creative and playful field we all are in. Me for example, i cannot put here all the stuff i do and when i do i do crap...what we put here can be just a little part of what we are in fact (excepting charlie for example). Dont be quick to judge and take it as a joke....

A logo most be simple and powerful. Small company do not is equal poor logo.
