Missal Creative

Brief from client
Athens, Ohio based start-up creative agency.
Needed to portray the ideas of inspiration, timelessness, and creativity.
Is Missal a surname? If they're using the word to reference an actual Missal, it should be apparent in the symbol. Right now it looks like an 8-bit muted explosion.
I don't see inspiration, timelessness or creativity here, sorry.
Back to the drawing board but before you do, try to get a real creative idea you can play on.
Missal, not missle. Look it up. It's a book for the liturgical year in the Catholic church. The symbol is a subtle association with Catholicism and the 'spark' as it were signifies that inspiration.
Not to be argumentative, but there is an easy way to get to the bottom of this.
Describe & Explain each element of your design and why you used it...and how that solved the requirements set out in the design brief.
If you can do that with solid reasoning.. we may understand the design better. But, as it is- I wouldn't be able to tell you why that symbol was used or why you chose these type faces, colors, etc. So, it fails from a designer's (this designer at least) view point.

There's some extra space in Missal.
Tracking for CREATIVE feels uneven.

this doesn't come off as "creative" to me.

Sorry, but I think you failed to successfully resolve the requirements of the brief:.
I appreciate your critique, but I disagree with your opinion. However in your opinion what would you suggest to satisfy the brief?

Way off the mark.
Everything is mute in this design, nothing communicates a thing. That asterisk might be the Sun, a start, or a flower, or anything. Fonts don't match.
I think you are on a good path but the Missal font has got to go. I would do some refined version.
