Personal Logo for a student inspired southern breakfast brand! Mostly grits, oatmeals, biscuit mix, etc.
The type is hand drawn, not a font. In case someone was going to ask.
This is off to a pretty good star, but the hand lettered word mark needs some major tweaking. The thickness of the brush strokes isn't consistent enough.
Keep in mind this simple rule: down strokes = thick, up strokes = thin.
At the time, I had no access to it. I keep attacking this with the white arrow tool and the smooth tool, and its taking forever. I finally got it to a spot where it could be critiqued.
oh yeah, I agree. I have one now, and its the bees knees.
A better method all together is hand drawing it with pen and ink, and then vectoring it. That one takes MUCH longer, and I didn't have time like that. but yeah.
I agree, the varying strokes are throwing things off a bit, and the "almost R" that is forming at the end of "Harvest" could be tweaked. But it definitely has a good start! I don't feel like there is any need for the leaves at the bottom- they feel like an afterthought. They are very perfect-computer generated- whatever the word I'm looking for here- they don't match up with the hand-drawn feel of the word mark.
Perhaps without the light background, this would be more readable. I just think there isn't enough contrast. The words beneath are a bit too small and scrunched. I would remove "let's" is you can...Start Off Right is a bit stronger in my opinion.
I like the looseness of it, other than the e in Harvest being a little cramped. I agree the leaves at the bottom don't add anything. Colors work well also.

Are you using a tablet ?
Keep it up!

For a hand lettered logo made with the mouse, it's not too bad. You obviously put a lot of work into this, which is great.
But I think for this type of project, a tablet with a proper stylus pressure simulation, is a must have.

"The bee's knees". I've never heard of that expression, it's pretty cool =)
i agree with shawali on the strokes but apart of that good job only doing it with your mouse!!
