This is my own company and I want to present a modern design thats clear and
easy to read. The face has been in use for over 20 years and is a well known icon in the South African market.

Colors dont work for me either
Font choice is fine but it is to pixalated as well
having your face in the logo is extremely cheesy as well, based on that I would not have signs made there because if you cant successfully have a clean well presented logo, you cant print clean and well presented material
Sorry, I just think it looks like it has been done with very little idea about creating identities. The face might have history but it looks so dated. Sorry again...
I think your approach to this is wrong.
If, you say, you have a 'face' graphic mark that is recognized and has been present for over 20 years, then the best solution would be to go for a 'modern' retro look.
GIve it some thought, search for inspiration on the net and try to come up with a new solution.
Do as splashster says and create something that people can remember.
Not modern.. looks like a baseball player from the 30's.
