really working to make this organic and bohemian. re-hand drew the text, played around with leaf position, etc. decided to mimic the central vein of leaf with boutique letters.

I think this is pretty bang on, congrats!
The organic feel is right there all the while everything being in to place.

Solid work, Jeff! I'm glad that you made this one to what it should be. My only suggestion is to try to rotate a leaf to the right and see how it will play out.

This is not working for me. It's pointing down now, which gives it a negative twist, at least to my eyes. The original version was great as it were.
how is that a negative? can you elaborate?
There's a convention in graphic design that says that everything that goes from left to right and up is seen as positive, as it symbolises growth, taking off, etc. On the other hand, something that goes from left to right but down is seen as negative, going down, etc.
That's because in the western world most of us read from left to right. In parts of the world where people read from left to right, it's the opposite.
I've heard of this practice myself. Never really followed it much or agreed with it.
I agree, to me the original layout looks "happier" even though the down tilt version may be slightly better balanced visually.
