Brief from client
This is for a local Hispanic church. Iglesia is church and Nuevo Amanecer is new dawn.
And they want to include church of the nazareno on the logo.

You're going for nontraditional and keeping with the name of new dawn and I think you've done that. One little thing in the symbol is that I can see very very thin white lines where the right side of the three circles continue. Make sure those aren't visible, and it'd be even better if you just had one solid path of the yellow shapes instead of dealing with stacking shapes on top of each other.
Is there a reason for the U to be so much larger than the rest of the type? If it's just to give another point of interest I'd get rid of it. It's distracting and causes imbalance and really doesn't make much sense as my brain is trying to figure out if that is supposed to be a direction for me to know how to pronounce that word...as if the emphasis is supposed to be on the U. In any case it isn't working for me. And yes you are correct that you need to go back and rework the subtext. It's not following any sort of a grid or hierarchy and therefore again looks unorganized and imbalanced. Good start, keep going!
I agree with Katelin. I dig the symbol, but the font work is a mess. Too many words, too many effects (avoid any drop shadow like the plague) and totally off balance. Keep it simple.
