They want a simple logo that is vibrant and will look great illuminated and on shopping bags, signs and other branding.

Nah, this is not working. Looks very dates, like straight from the 90's.

The bags in the symbol are random and simplistic.

The colors really don't match and are gaudy.

The main font is alright, but the subtext one is not (that M in "complex" looks really weird)

Like a lot of logos here, it really feels like you worked straight one your computer without any prior sketching.
