New York City Bartending School

Brief from client

No brief. Student spec. I tried to create a logo that made the brand seem current and exciting.

Too much details on that water!! You need to make it simple. And I think this type is not working here.

The liquid being blue seems strange to me, wouldn't you want it to be a color more often associated with alcohol, like an amber color? Also, per above, the 3d liquid doesn't mesh very well with the type. Clever idea though making the Y a martini glass, maybe stick an olive in there instead.

The liquid looks like it's a photograph. You should avoid using elements you didn't make yourself, beside the font, of course, because you don't control all the aspects of your logo. And it will be a bitch to print and resize.

The fonts is too plain.

The colors don't really say "cocktail" to me. They look more like the NY Knicks, but maybe that's on purpose.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I was married to the color scheme early on, which is why the liquid is blue. I really liked the color combination and especially since there are blue martinis,I wasn't going to make it a different color. I intentionally chose colors that you wouldn't necessarily associate with cocktails. Maybe I should've chosen different colors. I still like them, though.

I did try it with an olive in the glass and it didn't read nearly as well. Plus I like the action and movement going on with the liquid.

As far as the font, I could play different fonts, but I spent a good amount of time before selecting this one. I wanted something clean and modern that made the brand current rather than suggesting a 60's manhattan martini bar feel.

I'll continue playing with this and see what I come up with.

It will look better! If the "Y" is a glass!
