Palm Springs Logo 2

Brief from client
This wasn't a logo design for a client, only an assignment for my Digital Illustration class. The assignment was simple; To create a simple, subtle logo for what would be a 'classy' golf resort. Fictional or non-fictional.
I agree, that blue shape to the left is definitely not needed don't know why it is there. and when creating a logo it is important that you look at all elements of the design an perfect every area. The kerning is pretty poor for a start and the graphic mark is quite interesting but could be simplified in order for it to be comprehended better by the audience. Not sure why there is no fill in the company name only a stroke but this is also a weird decision.
I am also a design student and have been told from various teachers NOT to outline text. When we have a better grasp of typography, then we can try it ... But rarely does it work, ESP. In a logo. Watch your keening, too, esp. Between the P and the a. I see the P and the S in your "scribble," but I have to wonder if others can. The colors don't say golf OR Palm Springs to me. I also think the crescent is unnecessary.

The crescent is unnecessary and only diverts the attention from your symbol.

Your symbol looks like a "B"
Your swoosh is not needed
I dont like your text
placement is poor
kerning is poor
Color choices are not working either
I would start over
